CASE STUDY / SERVICE WEBSITE · MÓTYÁN ÁRNYÉKOLÁS

A local specialist,
with a lightning-fast site.

Mótyán László is a shading specialist in Tata: he fits roller shutters, venetian blinds, ZIP screens, awnings and insect screens in Tata, Tatabánya, Komárom and across the county. His old website showed a blank screen on mobile for 13.5 seconds before anything appeared. On the new site, that is 1.8 seconds.

01 / STARTING POINT

Good specialist.
Slow site.

The old site ran on WordPress and Elementor,
like most Hungarian small business sites.
On mobile, that became its weak point.

01

13.5 seconds of waiting.

On a phone, on an average mobile connection, that is how long it took for the homepage's main content to appear. Google recommends 2.5 seconds. Someone looking for a shutter on their phone rarely waits that long: they go back and call the next result.

02

4.2 MB for every visitor.

The page builder and the plugins loaded their own code on every page, for every visitor, even when that page did not need them at all. Photos of 800–1200 KB slowed loading further.

03

Slow responses to taps.

While loading, the page did not respond for almost a full second in total (890 ms): tapping the menu or a button did nothing. That is the moment when the visitor thinks something is broken.

04

57 points on the Google test.

The Google PageSpeed mobile score was 57 out of 100. That does not just put visitors off: Google can also rank slow pages lower in search results.

02 / THE MEASUREMENT

Same content.
In a fraction of the time.

Google PageSpeed is a score from 0 to 100 for how quickly and smoothly a page appears on an average phone, on a slow mobile connection. The numbers below are measurements of the old site before the move and the new site, using the same Google tool.

Mobile speed (PageSpeed)
57 → 99
Main content appearing on mobile
13.5 → 1.8 s
Stutter while loading
890 → 0 ms
Data to download
4.2 MB → 180 KB

On the first test after the move the lag was 40 ms, on the October 2026 verification test it was already 0. The download size is the compressed size. Measurement log and steps in detail: the project blog post (in Hungarian)

03 / WHAT CHANGED

No tricks.
Different foundations.

With speed-up plugins a heavy page
only improves a little. Here we replaced the foundations:
the site was built to be light from the start.

01

Ready-made pages, no waiting.

The new site is not assembled on a server on every visit; it serves visitors pre-built, ready-made pages from the server closest to the user. The browser only receives the code it really needs.

02

Light, sharp images.

The previous 800–1200 KB photos are 80–150 KB in modern WebP format, at the same quality. Images further down only load when the visitor scrolls to them.

03

A first screen that appears instantly.

The styles needed to show the first screen arrive together with the page itself, so the browser does not have to wait for a separate file. On its own, this reduced the time taken for the main content to appear by 2–3 seconds.

04

A short path to a quote.

The first screen has the “Request a quote” button and the tappable phone number, and the price calculator in the header. Separate pages present the outdoor and indoor shading, the insect screens and the automated systems by product group, and examples of completed work are on a separate page.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What you may ask
about the project.

Why is a speed-up plugin not enough for a WordPress site?

A speed-up plugin tries to serve the code that has to load more cleverly, but the page builder's and the other plugins' code still stays there. That is why a WordPress and Elementor based site rarely reaches 90 points on mobile. On a site built on light foundations, a score above 95 is the norm, not the exception.

What does a faster site mean for the business?

Fewer visitors go back before they even see the offer, and Google also prefers to show fast pages. For a local service provider, this means the enquirer searching on a phone stays with them, and does not call the next result.

Can you test my site too?

Yes. Request the free speed check through the contact form: we measure where your site stands on mobile right now. If you like, afterwards we can talk through what is worth fixing, and what it would cost.
